Sogin, the Italian State owned company responsible for the decommissioning of Italian nuclear plants and the management of radioactive waste, announced
TOI as the winning startup of the
"Advanced Solutions for Radioactive Waste" Call for Innovation, created with the support of
Digital Magics, an Italian business incubator.
Launched last June 17, the Call allowed the Jury, made up of top management and technicians from Sogin and Digital Magics, to award TOI (Zerynth) the prize for the best innovative proposal in radioactive waste management among the ten projects that have reached the final phase, which ended today.
TOI is awarded the Call for Innovation with the
Zerynth platform, a professional software-hardware-cloud that allows to integrate, in radioactive waste management, both old analog systems and new generation products, technologies and services in a simple and scalable way, allowing the application of 4.0 digital solutions to existing processes and infrastructures.
The
Python language used by the platform makes it possible to program IoT devices by enabling “edge computing” and “data science” algorithms, directly on the various devices used in nuclear plants in decommissioning, in order to integrate them quickly and efficiently.
The winner of the Call, TOI (Zerynth), will collaborate with Sogin in the development of the presented project.
The other nine finalist startups, selected from the 52 companies that participated in the Call, are all realities on the Italian scene: Alleantia, Easy, Engynya, MTM Project, Pikkart, RuneLab, Smart Track, Surge, Tools for Smart Minds.
The objective of the Call was to identify, among startups and small and medium-sized enterprises, the best proposal of advanced solutions and technologies for the planning, management and automation phases of radioactive waste storage and in the verification of the results obtained, to contribute to
digitization processes and
sustainable development.
