Ecomondo23: broad interest registered for the Sogin Group’s activities

13 November 2023

The Sogin Group stand was visited by many people, including Minister Pichetto Fratin and members of the bicameral Commission on illegal activities connected with the waste cycle.

Once again this year, the Sogin Group participated in the 2023 Ecomondo Show.

From decommissioning design to waste management, from siting to radiation protection, environmental analysis, restoration and monitoring, Sogin and Nucleco illustrated the Group's skills and technologies for the Italian nuclear power industry to numerous visitors at the stand during the four days of the event.

The event also provided an opportunity to illustrate how the company ensures sustainability in all its various dismantling and reclamation activities. One example is the environmental restoration of a former Air Force firing range area in Punta della Contessa (Brindisi) recently performed by the subsidiary Nucleco, in which some 300 native tree species were replanted.

The opening day was attended by Minister for the Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, who visited the Group's stand and was welcomed by Sogin CEO Gian Luca Artizzu. This was followed by an important institutional meeting with a delegation from the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into illegal activities connected with the waste cycle and other environmental and agri-food offences on Friday 10 November.

In addition to Sogin’s executives, Nucleco CEO Agostino Rivieccio also took part.

Now in its 26th edition, running from 7 to 10 November 2023, Ecomondo attracted representatives of over 1,500 brands (10% more than in 2022) to the over 150,000 square metres of the exhibition area, confirming its status as one of Europe’s largest events dedicated to the ecological transition and to new models of circular economy.
