National Repository for radioactive waste, the first phase of the Public Consultation closes
05 July 2021
At midnight today the
first phase of the Public Consultation on the National Charter of Potentially Suitable Areas (CNAPI) and the preliminary design of the National Radioactive Waste Repository and Technology Park will end.
This phase, as required by the regulations, was opened 180 days ago, on 5 January, with the publication by Sogin of the CNAPI, the preliminary design of the National Radioactive Waste Repository and Technology Park, and the related documentation required by Legislative Decree no. 31/2010, on the site
depositonazionale.it.
As of tomorrow, the computer channels activated for Consultation, through which the Regions, the local authorities, and the stakeholders have been able to transmit their comments and technical proposals to Sogin in the last six months, in written and not anonymous form following the regulations, will be closed.
In addition, the five info points set up at five Sogin sites will be deactivated to allow interested parties to view, possibly even in person. This documentation is the subject of the Consultation.
The Public Consultation that will be resumed after the National Workshop scheduled in autumn is the first to be held in Italy on an infrastructure of national importance that will optimize the safe management of radioactive waste produced in our country, in analogy with other European countries.
The comments and technical proposals submitted according to the procedure will be published on 16 July 2021, on the site
depositonazionale.it.
The documentation subject of this first phase of the Consultation, carried out following the principles and provisions of Law no. 241 of 7 August 1990, remains available on the website
