visited the Caorso nuclear power plant last Wednesday 15 November.
The delegation led by Manager Cristian Ferrarini and welcomed by site Decommissioning Manager Viviana Cruciani was given a detailed presentation on the dismantling works completed and on those still in progress at the Piacenza plant, including the management of radioactive waste generated by the plant's past operation and decommissioning activities.
The visit provided an opportunity to learn more about the activities of the Sogin training centre known as Radwaste Management School (RaMS), which provides high-level professional training on various topics such as safety culture, radiation protection, nuclear decommissioning, radioactive waste management and environmental reclamation and is also open to outsiders.
The encounter ended with a constructive exchange of information that underlined Sogin's ongoing commitment to promoting the best practices in the implementation of its activities in order to ensure the maximum safety for the territory of the province of Piacenza.
