The Sogin Group at DigiDECOM 2024
19 November 2024
From 12 to 15 November, the Sogin Group participated in the DigiDECOM
2024 international conference, held in Hoden (Norway) and organised by the Institute for Energy Technology (IFE),
as a collaboration centre of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), for the HTO project of the OECD NEA in Halden and the Norwegian Nuclear Research Centre.
During the conference, which saw numerous important stakeholders in the nuclear sector attending, topics related to decommissioning and the sustainable management of the entire life cycle of nuclear facilities were addressed, with a particular focus on the application of artificial intelligence and the role of digitalization and robotics to increase safety and efficiency.
Specifically, Sogin and its subsidiary Nucleco addressed the session on Wednesday, 13 November on "New initiatives and emerging technologies & Advanced training tools and methods".
Sogin presented the development and implementation of an interactive programme for the decommissioning of the reactor building of the Caorso nuclear power plant, functional to its decommissioning. More specifically, this software allows radiological information, obtained through historical information and field measurements, to be associated with the digital imaging system, resulting in a complete reconstruction of the environment.
Nucleco illustrated the project called "Andromeda". This refers to an integrated system that uses advanced hardware and software technologies to create a 3D digital copy of a nuclear facility, including physical and radiological information, in support of decommissioning and waste management activities.
The Sogin Group's participation in international events such as DigiDECOM 2024 represents an opportunity to share technologies and expertise in the sector, helping to promote collaborations and exchanges of information at international level.
