During the plant operation period, the Test Tank premise housed two spare tanks for the collection of purified water from radwaste system.
In 2016, the works for the adaptation of the building to temporary buffer were initiated. This work allows the safe storage of radioactive waste during the performance of adaptation works in the two interim storage facilities (1 and 2), without the need to build new structures.
In 2018, Sogin started storing 300 overpacks in anti-roll cages, (products of super-compaction, approx. 1,500 220-litres tanks containing asbestos) within the Test Tank.
